The Breakdown

The event occured during the time of 1836 on April 21st. In Harris County, Texas was this decisive battle of the Texas Revolution taken place. Which was led by General Sam Houston. The Texas Army had engaged and defeated General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna's Mexican forces in a fight that had only lasted just eighteen minutes. While 700 of the Mexican soldiers were killed, there were 730 captured, while nine of the Texans died.

The President of Mexico who was named, Santa Anna, was also captured the following day and held as prisoner of the war. About three weeks later, he then signed the peace treaties that dictated that the Mexican army leave the region, paving the route for the Republic of Texas to become an independent country. However, these treaties, DID NOT, recognize, specifically, Texas as a sovereign nation. But had stipulated that Santa Anna was to lobby for such recognition in Mexico City. Sam Houston had became a national celebrity and the Texans' cried, "REMEMBER THE ALAMO!" and "REMEMBER GOLIAD!" Which this, had became eteched into the American history and legend.
