- Galileo Galilei was born in in Pisa, Italy on February 15, 1564. Galilei was the oldest amongst seve children. His father was a wool trader and a musician who wanted his son to study medicine as there was more money in the business of medicine. At the age of eleven, Galileo Galilei was sent off to study in a Jesuit monastery.

Rerouted from the Religion to Science

- After about four years, Galilei had announced to his father the fact that he wanted to be a monk. This, was not what the father had in mind for his son, so Galileo Galilei was hastily withdrawn from the monastery. At the age of 17 in 1581, he had entered the University of Pisa to study what his father had wished. The study of Medicine.

Law of the Pendulum

- At the age of 20, Galilei had noticed that a lamp was swinging overhead while he was in a cathedral. When curious to find out how long it took the lamp to swing back and forth, he had used his pulse to time the small and large swings. Galilei then discovered something that no one has ever realized; the period of each swing was exactly the same. This law of pendulum, which would eventually be used to regulate clocks, had made Galileo Galilei instantly famous.
