Dantes Inferno
Ironically, it was a lecute on the literature that would turn the fortunes of Galileo. The Academy of Florence had been arguing over 100year old controversy. For example, like on; what was the location, shape, and dimensions of Dante's Inferno? Galileo Galilei had wanted answer the question seriously from the point of view of a scientist. Extrapolating from the line of Dante that "the giant Nimrod's face was about as long; And just as wide as St.Peter's cone in Rome." Galileo Galilei had then deduced that Lucifer, himself, was 2,000 arm-lengths long. The audience had been highly impressed, and then within a year, Galilei had receieved a 3year appointment to the University of Pisa. Which was also, the same university that NEVER granted him a degree. | |
